Location: Bedfordshire, England.
Age: Born in 1978.
Personal Information: Married, with a daughter and son.
Interests: Running – anything from Parkrun to XC to Marathons, and longer. Audax – ElliptiGO long distance rides.
Sporting Background: Started running in 2003. First marathon in 2006 and sub 3hrs in 2013. Took up ultra-running in 2010 and have never looked back – well until the ElliptiGO came along, I suppose! Bought the ElliptiGO in late 2010, to help me train for ultra-marathon running, which it has done with great effect. Completed two dream races in 2013 – Western States 100 in California and Ultra Trail Mt Blanc (UTMB) in France. Completed the Mille Cymru 1,000km Audax and the Wild Atlantic Way 2,100km Audax rides, using my ElliptiGO.
My Goals in 2017: My main goal for 2017 is to take on the Mille Pennines 1,000km Audax (time-limit 75 hours), a very hilly (13,600m of elevation!) cycling challenge in Lancashire, which starts on 7th July 2017. I’ve also registered to run my 7th consecutive Snowdonia Marathon, taking place on 28th October 2017.
Something most people don’t know about me: I fell down a mountain (hillside!) when I was very young, whilst on a family walk (my parents heads were turned at the time). I was saved by a tree half way down that stopped me from falling to my early death! Perhaps a little dramatic – but its a story told again and again by my parents that’s grown and its kind of stuck in my head. I actually probably just tripped and fell 5ft! lol.
Favourite Phrases:
Perhaps more of a quote, but I love it:
“Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming — WOW– What a Ride!”
