Job: Self-employed graphic designer.
Age at PBP 2015: 57.
Personal: Married to Kim, two children – Callum (20) and Bethany (18).
Interests: Sporting challenges. Keeping the family on side to enable me to continue with these challenges.
Sporting Background: Rowing (from university to age 45) then switched to marathon running, triathlon/duathlon, ElliptiGO cycling.
Why PBP?: It’s the next challenge. Completing the LEL/PBP set.
Something most people don’t know about me: Tricky one – I’m a very simple, uncomplicated (boring) sort of person. I am the son of a farmer and I attribute my (limited) athletic ability to my active childhood on the farm.
At school, I avoided sport like the plague and it wasn’t until I went to university that I ‘saw the sporting light’. That’s when I got seriously involved with rowing and all its associated cross training activities. There is a direct correlation between my increased interest in sport and my distinctly underwhelming academic achievements!
Whilst I do not like to stand out in a crowd (a bit difficult on an ElliptiGO!), I do enjoy the challenge of completing endurance events that ‘normal’ people have the good sense not to do.
Other: My PBP 2015 training programme.
